- os 34 turnos foram numerados como consta em https://fenix.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/disciplinas/SSM25179577/2020-2021/1-semestre/horario-completo;
- foi criado um único Agrupamento, com 34 «grupos»;
- cada «grupo» corresponde a um turno.
Para se inscrever:
- veja em https://fenix.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/disciplinas/SSM25179577/2020-2021/1-semestre/horario-completo qual o número do turno com o dia e a hora que pretende;
[This announcement has an English version. Press PT/EN at the top right corner.]
1. Estudo autónomo
A unidade curricular corresponde a 6 ECTS.

Assignments
There are four laboratory assignments, to be delivered individually by each student:
- assignments 2 and 3 consist in simulations only;
- assignments 1 and 4 consist in an actual laboratory class.
There are 34 shifts for each laboratory class, distributed over two weeks for assignment 1 and four weeks for assignment 4. You can find the exact hours in Fenix, in the section where you must enrol. Enrolment in shifts begins on the first day of the semester and ends on the last day of each class.
- Assignment 1 Week 1 of 2 2020 / 10 / 12 — 2020 / 10 / 16 45 min mark 0 to 4
- Assignment 1 Week 2 of 2 2020 / 10 / 19 — 2020 / 10 / 22 45 min mark 0 to 4
- Assignment 2 Simulation only 2020 / 10 / 30 (report deadline) mark 0 to 4
- Assignment 3 Simulation only 2019 / 11 / 20 (report deadline) mark 0 to 4
- Assignment 4 Week 1 of 4 2020 / 11 / 23 — 2019 / 11 / 27 2 h 45 min mark 0 to 8
- Assignment 4 Week 2 of 4 2020 / 11 / 30 — 2019 / 12 / 4 2 h 45 min mark 0 to 8
- Assignment 4 Week 3 of 4 2020 / 12 / 7 — 2020 / 12 / 11 2 h 45 min mark 0 to 8
- Assignment 4 Week 4 of 4 2020 / 12 / 14 — 2020 / 12 / 17 2 h 45 min mark 0 to 8
Classes
Classes take place in the Control, Automation and Robotics Laboratory, Mechanical Engineering III building, basement floor 1.
Classes must be prepared in advance, according to what is found in each chapter, in sections entitled ``Homework before class''. Students that show up in class without preparing this homework will not be allowed to carry out the experiments, and will receive a 0 mark in that class.
Delivering assignments
Assignments are delivered as follows:
- Assignments 1 and 4 are evaluated in class by the instructor. Marks will consider the homework prepared, performance during the class, and results obtained.
- Assignments 2 and 3 are delivered as a report in PDF format, using Fenix.
The rules for reports are the following:
- Deliver a PDF file.
- The maximum length of the report is three pages.
- If a report has more than three pages, only the first three are considered for the mark.
- Links for simulations built with Tinkercad, a free online software, are always asked.
- Screenshots of the simulations are also requested.
- The simulations linked to must exist in your Tinkercad account until the end of the semester.
- The simulations must correspond exactly to the screenshot provided, otherwise they will not be considered.
- Photos of handwritten demonstrations of relations are also asked.
- If the demonstrations are not delivered in your handwriting, they will not be considered.
Assignments 2 and 3 can be delivered after the deadline, with penalties in the mark as follows:
Days after the deadline (Penalty) 1 (-0,5) 2 (-1) 3 (-2) 4 or more (Not accepted)
Punctuality
Punctuality is required when attending classes. The penalty for arriving late (i.e. more than 10 minutes after the beginning of the class) is a deduction of -0.5 to the mark of that class.
Students enroled in previous academic years
Laboratory marks obtained in 2019/2020, and those only, remain valid this year, but students may repeat laboratory evaluation if they so desire.
Students entitled to special evaluation period
Students entitled to special evaluation period (and only those) may obtain their laboratory mark during that period. They do not need to attend classes or deliver reports during the semester. Once enroled in the special evaluation period, they must contact Professor Duarte Valério to signify their interest in laboratory special evaluation and arrange deadlines and class days. The assignments are the same.
Assignments that depend on your student number
Simulation assignments have parameters that depend on the five digits of your student number, given by n1 n2 n3 n4 and n5. Your student number is thus equal to n1x10^4+n2x10^3+n3x10^2+n4x10+n5. For instance, in the case of student number 98765:
n1=9 n2=8 n3=7 n4=6 n5=5
Exercises where students fail to use the proper values depending on their student number will not be considered for marks.

An important piece of advice for classes
Turn the power off before building your circuits. Check connections before turning the power on. In case of doubt, call your instructor. In no way can our experiments turn out as bad as that in Figure 1. But still.
