In this class we'll explore the problem of designing new metabolic pathways that don't exist in nature, called pathway prospecting. We'll look at case-studies from the literature to understand the approaches that scientists have used to create new metabolic pathway. We'll also talk about pathway prospecting tools, which are computational programs that can aid in the task of designing new metabolic routes, and that we'll use in lab 3. (by Ana Vila-Santa)
