Lab Guide for This Week

23 março 2020, 19:12 Luís Pedrosa

Folks,

This week we'll learn about wifi-direct and how to use our in-house mobility simulator - Termite. The lab guide is now available in the Labs section. If you have any questions you can find me on the Class Slack or Piazza.

Resuming Lectures

18 março 2020, 01:57 João Coelho Garcia

We are resuming classes this week. Lectures will be taking place using the colibri/zoom platform as explained last week. This Wednesday (March 18th) the topic is Mobile UI design. There will a repeat of last week's lecture in English in the morning (9:30). If you have attended, there isn't probably much point in watching again. There will be a portuguese version of the same topic in the afternoon (16:30). Links to the lecture "meetings" will be in the "Lectures section". You need to install a Zoom client (see https://zoom.us/download) on your computer beforehand to connect to the meetings. I will try to post the classes later on Youtube too if the recording and conversion process goes well.
If you have presentations scheduled, please email me video (preferably Youtube) links to the presentations and send me the slides. If, alternatively or complementary, you want to present during the lecture, attend the lecture and I'll hand the focus to you at the appropriate moment.

Recorded Lab Presentations

18 março 2020, 00:47 Luís Pedrosa

Folks,

As we will not be having in person classes for a while, I have started to record videos for the presentations I usually give at the beginning of lab classes. These videos will now be available in the Labs section, along with the slides.

Let's all try to follow the new routine to get back some normalcy in all of this: watch the video for each week's class and work on the lab guide from home. If you have any questions or problems getting your code to work, bring your questions to our Slack workspace or Piazza forum.

Stay safe!

Important notice regarding the lectures

11 março 2020, 14:51 João Coelho Garcia

Contrary to what was announced here earlier and due to an attempt to keep all courses at the same pace and to give students the time to reorganize their situation in the face of the covid-19 epidemic restrictions, there will not be any further Mobile Computing lectures until next Tuesday. As far as we know classes, only online, will resume next Wednesday (links will be provided in the Lectures section). If you were presenting a paper today or Friday (March 13th) please send me a link of the presentation video and slides (if you haven't sent yet).

Online Office Hours and Lab Classes

11 março 2020, 11:35 Luís Pedrosa

Folks,

To try and minimize the impact of all in person classes being cancelled, we'll be using a series of online tools to replace in person interaction. We now have a class Slack, in addition to Piazza.

During Office Hours, both Prof. Garcia and myself will be online in slack. I'll also be there during our scheduled Lab classes. We'll also monitor Piazza and answer questions asynchronously. I you have a general question that everyone can benefit from participating in, please post it on Piazza. If you have a specific question about your code or need to screen share or explain something in a call, go ahead and use Slack.

I'm online now for my office hours, feel free to join!
