Lab 7 - Low Fidelity Prototypes

Goals

  • Create Low Fidelity Prototypes (LFP);

Procedure

You should identify and discuss the main tasks or user goals of your project. After, you should build a testable Low-Fidelity Prototype (LFP). The LFP allows users to perform critical tasks on your product and elicit user feedback to validate your design(s). Your low-fidelity prototype should have enough flexibility and enable users to perform different tasks.

In class, you will prepare and conduct a formative user study using your LFP. You can use one (or several) techniques taught in lectures (Uncovering the Mental Model, Wizard of Oz, and Think-Aloud). The User Research lead should decide what methods to use and discuss it with the team.

During the lab, you will have the chance to practice conducting the formative user study with classmates, so you can conduct a proper study with end-users for next week.

Presentation

Each team has 10 minutes to present their work. The project manager should start the presentation, reporting on the team?s work during that week. S/he should also end by describing the next steps for the project. The presentation should be previously uploaded to the website.

Evaluation

The evaluation will be based on:

  • Quality of the presentation [0.25v];
  • Participation in class discussions [0.25v];
  • Identification of critical tasks [0.5v];
  • Low-Fidelity Prototypes [2.0v].
