Detalhes: {pt=O presente documento é relativo ao exercício proposto no âmbito do Projecto Final em Arquitectura II, do Instituto Superior Técnico, tendo como temática a reconversão do edifício do Comando Naval para uma unidade hoteleira, localizado na cidade do Mindelo, ilha de São Vicente, Cabo Verde. Tanto o programa escolhido como o edifício pré-existente são de extrema importância no esquema da actual dinâmica e problemática da cidade. Desta forma, o projecto detém um grande potencial na transformação da cidade, funcionando como ponto charneira que articula o centro histórico com um espaço expectante da cidade, o porto industrial. Além da sua importante localização, surge ainda como oportunidade de repensar o hotel, como elemento de suporte da viagem, que no contexto actual não se cinge exclusivamente ao turismo tradicional. Pretende-se explorar as potencialidades desta tipologia, entendendo-a como um modo de habitar temporário, servindo de resposta às diferentes necessidades, finalidades e tempos da deslocação do indivíduo. A proposta toma como ponto de partida a matriz estrutural do edifício modernista, apartir da qual se define o módulo base do habitar, que por sua vez origina as restantes variações. O módulo, tomado como um formato abstracto capaz de definir um espaço, expande-se para o exterior da pré-existência, estabelecendo uma relação entre o espaço habitável e a envolvente natural [encosta rochosa]. O contraste privado/colectivo estabelece-se com a definição de funções complementares que desenham espaço público, funcionando como ponto atractor na estrutura urbana da cidade. , en=This document refers to the architecture final studio project of Instituto Superior Técnico, in which the thematic was the reconversion of the Naval Command to a hotel unit, located in the city of Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde. Both the chosen program and the pre-existing building are of extreme importance in the scheme of the current dynamics and problematics of the city. In this way, the project holds great potential in the transformation of the city, working as a hinge point that articulates the historical centre with an expectant space, the industrial port. In addition to its important location, it appears as an opportunity to rethink the hotel unit, has the support element of the journey, which now-a-days does not stick only to traditional tourism. It is intended to explore the potential of this typology, understanding it as a way of temporary living, the serves as a response to different needs, aims and times of the modern man’s travelling. The proposal takes as starting point the structural matrix of the modernist building, which defines the base module of inhabit, that leads the remaining variations. The module, taken as an abstract format able to define a space, expands to the exterior of the pre-existence, establishing a relationship between inhabitable space and the natural element [rocky escarpment]. The private/collective contrast is established with the definition of complementary functions to the hotel that define the public space, that works as an attractor point in the urban structure of the city. }
