Project grades

16 fevereiro 2021, 12:52 João Paulo Salgado Arriscado Costeira

Project grades below (link).

Tomorrow wednesday 17  from 14.00 - 16.00 I'll be on zoom but :

from 14.00 - 15.00, I reserved for highlighted groups (yellow) that are projects below the minimum acceptable level
So, groups marked ***, **  can join at 14.00 and we schedule  individual discussions (~10 min).

The green groups  from 15.00 - 16.00. These groups have very good reports, reasonably well detailed theory and documented experiments but the results I obtained with their code do not match the quality of the report. This is to say that your report would grant you one mark up but the output of your code is not at that level.

So, you can discuss with me how you obtained the results in the report and get one extra point BUT, if you are not convincing and if you fail to explain some of the theoretical aspects that I overlooked or was benevolent with ... your grade can go DOWN too!

In general the reports exhibit  poor theoretical explanations. In other words, if you had implemented what you say in the report it would be impossible to get the results you document there !!! Of course, many have only a lot of "bla bla" but if you are precise enough I give you the benefit of the doubt. If you write hard mistakes (I'll publish some examples) I can not ignore !

So, I am not going to discuss the grades (it is not a negotiation) but if you want, between 15.00 and 16.00 make your case and I'll check. The same applies : I spent all this time struggling between two be fair: comparing this year's grades with past editions (very similar projects) and comparing what you could do and what you should do given the current situation.  Your grades can go UP but they can also go DOWN ! Don't assume I was the "bad guy that doesn't want to give good grades" :-).

Grades are here https://fenix.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/downloadFile/1126518382275055/GroupsPIVGradesFinal.pdf

zoom tomorrow wednesday 17 February 14.00 -16.00 (but read the rest of the email please :-)

Best regards
JP
