DAD labs start on Monday!

Hi all!

Thank you for enrolling in the DAD course!

Due to the COVID pandemic, we will be doing the course entirely remotely. We will use the Discord platform for the labs. You can download Discord at discord.com and join the DAD Discord server using a link available in the "Labs" section of the website.
As in all IST activities, please enroll using your IST email and join the Discord server with a nickname composed of your IST student number (not the IST ID!), your first and last names and your group number separated by dashes. For example, if I were in group 7, my DAD Discord nickname should be "35784-JoaoGarcia-G07". Since we are still creating the groups, you can leave the group part out for now.
 
For the first week, just join the voice channel of the corresponding lab and I will be broadcasting there and guiding everyone.

For now there is also a channel for one-on-one questions in case you want to share your screen and questions with me in private. Once you have a project group, I will have a dedicated channel for your group. During the labs, once the groups are established, I will tend to give priority to questions from the groups that are enrolled in that lab (in the specific channels that will be created for them) in order to better divide the available time between all.

In order to speed up the setup for the first week of DAD labs, please install the required software on your machines.

The lab part of DAD entails mostly programming a project that explores some of the concepts discussed in the lectures. For that, we will be using Visual Studio available at:
