Measures to improve durability. Cross section shape, drainage systems, design criteria’s, technical specifications, detailing, technical supervision of the execution, maintenance and preventive measures.

Additional measures to improve RC durability of the reinforced concrete structures.

NP EN 1504-2 – Products and systems for protecting and repairing concrete structures. Part 2: Surface protection systems for concrete. Principle P1 - Protection against ingress and Principle P2 - Moisture control. Surface impregnation and coatings. Protection of concrete with organic products. Hydrophobic impregnation, impregnation by partially filling of the pores and coatings.

Protection against penetration: decrease of carbonation of the concrete. Requirements: CO₂ permeability, thickness equivalent air layer, water vapour permeability, water absorption capacity, bond strength, and coating durability.

Coatings materials for additional protection of RC elements.

Protection against chlorides penetration. EN 1504-2. Requirements for the  coatings.

Princípio P1 – Protecção contra substâncias agressivas e P2 – Controlo da humidade no betão. Produtos de Protecção superficial: impregnação da superfície e revestimentos. Impregnação hidrófoba e impregnação por preenchimento parcial dos poros. Ângulo de contacto com a água. Revestimentos de protecção do betão por pintura e barramento. Critérios de selecção do sistema de pintura. Revestimentos de protecção por pintura, revestimentos espessos e membranas. Protecção contra a carbonatação do betão. Características a exigir: Permeabilidade ao CO2, espessura da camada de ar equivalente, permeabilidade ao vapor de água, resistência à absorção de água e ao envelhecimento e aderência ao substrato. Protecção contra a penetração de cloretos. EN 1504-2 - Requisitos de desempenho para os revestimentos por pintura de diferentes tipos de tintas.
