The composition and functioning of two component regulatory systems was detailed. Emphasis was given to the histidine kinase sensor and catalytic domains conformational changes and phosphorylation of the histidine residues. Specific examples of two component regulatory systems were presented and discussed, including the EnvZ/OmpR, PhoU/PhoR ArcA/ArcB. The roles on TCRS on the metabolic adaptation to the presence /absence of oxygen were presented and discussed.
Introductory notes on Molecular and Cellular Microbiology

The origins of life, the division of living beings in 3 domains and the basic structure and organization of microbial cells were revised. The structure and composition of a prokaryotic cell were presented and discussed, including the cell wall oranization with reference to the porins, peptidoglycan, teicoic acids, and lipopolysaccharides. The prokaryotic cell cycle events and time required were presented and discussed.
