Deliverables: Board Game Analysis report
Deadline: November 6th

** Grades **: here

Here are the links to the Vassal modules for the games to be analyzed. The rules for all these games can be found in the "files" section. Although some modules offer multiple expansions, the analysis should focus on the base game only.

After you get acquainted with the game assigned to your team, you will have to answer a set of questions that will become available during the second week of the assignment (26-30 Oct). During the first week, you should focus on learning all the rules and playing the game with your teammates to gain a deeper understanding of gameplay, mechanics, strategies, etc.

** UPDATE **
Your boardgame analysis needs to answer the following questions:
  1. Define the experience and discuss its progression over time;
  2. Identify the theme and fiction of the game and discuss how they are supported by the game elements (rules, board, cards, mechanics, etc.);
  3. Describe how the game accommodates different types of players and play styles;
  4. Discuss the common gameplay strategies, counter-strategies, and their balance;
  5. How accurate was the VASSAL module in its implementation of the boardgame? Please discuss any differences in terms of their impact on player experience.
Each team will have to answer one question per team member. The team decides who will be responsible for each answer. Each team member will be graded mostly on his/her answer, but the grade will also include a contribution from their teammates' grades.
  • Teams of 3: 60% (own answer) + 20% for each answer from teammates. The team can choose which 2 questions to drop;
  • Teams of 4: 55% (own answer) + 15% for each answer from teammates. The team can choose which question to drop;
  • Teams of 5: 60% (own answer) + 10% for each answer from teammates.
