The project presentation calendar is now available in this link.
The presentations are done by the whole group, in person, on campus, and are transmitted for a remote audience. Each group must attend from the beginning of their assigned session and remain for the duration of it. Presenters need to be physically present in the lecture room. Please follow the safety rules for being on campus (face masks, etc.).
If there are health isolation conditions, these need to be communicated (and documented) to the teaching staff as soon as possible.

Dear students,
The reference time for the project code and report submission is still Friday, January 28th, 2022, 17:00.
However, we will also allow later delivery until the end of the same day (23:59), also on Fénix, without any penalization.
This will be especially helpful for the groups that have their lab session on Friday.
The project presentation and demonstration videos are submitted later, after the session where your group will present.
The project presentation calendar will be made available later this week.
Best regards

Dear students,
We will have an invited presentation on the Thursday January 20th from Viffera.
The presentation will happen after the mini-test.
Date: 20/1/2022 (next Thursday) at 14:00 WET
Location: EA1, Alameda
Zoom (to be confirmed):
https://videoconf-colibri.zoom.us/j/82011131052?pwd=NnJTZXQ3Um5zWGs1TzA2TEZ5bHNYQT09Title: Preparing for Augmented Authentication to safeguard infrastructures in web3.0
On average, every 39 seconds a breach is attempted. Hacking is becoming the predominant force to exploit companies and individuals alike to gain power, knowledge and/or money. Those hackers, which can be from singular or group of individuals up to state sponsored organisations, exploit the weaknesses between technology and Humans!
As a consequence, we are now starting to deploy multi-factor authentication (MFA) that focus on 3 aspects: have, know, are, but still breaches keep rising. We need to rethink authentication and how authentication is performed, starting from the user Identity, followed by user experience with digital systems and ensure that advanced 3-factor authentication is integrated into critical digital infrastructure.
Viffera is an early-stage start-up, based in Eindhoven, with the vision to create a new framework in authentication, creating a more advanced authentication that is even stronger but truly hassle free. In this lecture we will provide a view on the authentication paradigm and the proposal for advanced and continuous MFA.
Speaker:
Helder Salvador, CTO at Viffera
Bio:
Helder Salvador holds a PDEng in product design, M.Sc degree in computational mechanics. Prior to joining Canon he developed work on image and signal processing applied to chemical processes and worked as consultant for several projects related to fluid, thermal and solid mechanics. At Canon he works as physicist, being responsible to develop knowledge applied to printed ink layers in close collaboration with academic experts. In is free time he enjoys sailing and hiking in nature

In the second mini-test, the instructions will be the following, different from the first mini-test:
All the
questions have the same value.
Each
question only has one fully correct option.
A
question has N options.
In your
answer, you can select one or more options.
However,
for each question, the grade is calculated by the options you selected, in the
following way:
- The correct option is worth
the full value of the question
- Each incorrect option
discounts 1/(N-1) of the value
Example:
For a
question with N=4 options, A, B, C and D.
You were undecided between two options, and selected
both A and D.
If the
right answer is the A, then the grade is 66% (because the right option A is
worth 100% but the wrong option D discounts 33%).

Dear students the 2nd mini-test will be in the second lecture of this coming week, i..e. Next Wednesday (Tagus) and Thursday (Alameda).
The test may cover all topics already lectured, but will focus on Cryptography and key management.
You will have to:
- be physically present in the room;
- bring your student identification with photo;
- attend the whole lecture;
- bring a network-connected device.
IMPORTANT:To answer the mini-test you will need to have a G Suite for Education account activated and associated with your Técnico Identity (Fénix). Attention: this is not the same as the U. Lisboa identity.
To activate G Suite for Education; go to the IT self-service:
https://selfservice.dsi.tecnico.ulisboa.pt and click on "Ativar"; "GSuite" and accept the terms of use. Then login to a Google service with the Técnico email, for example, go to https://drive.google.com.
To test the correct configuration, you can use this test form:
If you can answer it with your account, then the configuration is correct.
