It is my pleasure to announce that all the students who completed their evaluation for this course obtained a "Pass" grade. 

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed and learned from the activities of the course. I wish you all the best of luck for your PhD and your subsequent professional careers.

PhD open days (course wrap up)

Dear all,

The program for the PhD open days event is now available. To complete this course, you need to attend at least:

- both sessions of the video-posters event

- any two of the workshops

- any two of the invited talks / debate 

Please drop me a note before the event indicating which workshops and invited talks you will attend. Also, please upload your video-poster through the course fénix page by the end of October. If you missed some of the pre-confinement seminars, you can also upload the summary of the corresponding number of Turing lectures (as per the previous announcement) through the course fénix page.

And continue to stay safe, with the appropriate social distance and wearing a face mask :-)

Remaining course requirements

Dear all,


This is to announce that the course will be prolonged until the end of October. Until then, you need to fulfil the following two requirements:

- Attend three research talks in broad CS topics. Those of you who attended the talks that we announced here in February and March have successfully concluded this requirement. The remaining students will have a chance to fulfil this requirement by listening to their choice of Turing Lectures online ( https://amturing.acm.org/lectures.cfm ) and writing a half page summary / critique of each lecture. 

- Attend the PhD open days event, which is expected to take place in the last week of October (please mark this week on your calendars). In this event, you are required to present a poster, which you must upload to this course website, and also attend all of the tutorials/workshops that are associated with the event.

Resuming course activities

Hope that this message find you in good health.

We have received information that the "PhD open days" may take place in the Fall semester, possibly during the month of October. As such, the current plan is to conclude the activities of our course in September and October, with a few lectures and the participation in the PhD open days event. We hope to post more details on these activities shortly after we have a concrete date for the event.

Suspension of activities

In light of the cancellation of the PhD open days event, and of the current guidelines to the IST community, we are going to suspend all the activities of the interdisciplinary research course until further notice.
