Metagenomics - Update on the antiSmash server and our plan to go around it

7 novembro 2018, 11:24 Rodrigo Costa

Dear all,

As you have noticed, the antiSmash server has been down since last Friday. The storage capacity of the server was affected, and apparently even the jobs sent on Wednesday went lost. The same occurred with the job I sent one week before our classes. I´ve got the results in good order before our lectures, but after Friday the link was not active anymore (this means I can´t share any results with you by now).

Solution:

Luckily the server is active again. I have just re-sent the Actinobacteria job to antismash using the settings established in our tutorial. At this point, I strongly suggest that we don´t overload the system with several simultaneous job submissions. We rather wait for the results of the job I sent this morning. If everything goes right, I´ll share, through this page, the link leading to the results with everyone. You will get one week extra to hand in your reports because of the problem we had with the server. We were not lucky this time around, but I trust we will get things back on track.

Contingency plan: if the strategy above doesn´t work and somehow I realize that the html link is not functional, we have a plan B for the report, don´t worry :)

All the best everyone,

Rodrigo
