Miguel Cacho Teixeira received BSc and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the Technical University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He is currently full professor at the Bioengineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. He is also senior researcher at iBB - Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences, Biological Sciences Research Group, IST. His research interests include yeast molecular and cellular biology, response to stress and multidrug resistance (MDR) in S. cerevisiae and in the pathogenic yeasts of the Candida genus, functional genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. Since 2002, he has co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals, 11 book chapters and co-coordinates the public database webportal YEASTRACT+. He has further participated in 19 funded research projects, 5 of which as PI. He has/is also supervised/supervising 5 post-doctoral programs, 9 PhD students and 30 MSc students.
