Metal Forming Technology course

Dear Students,

 

Welcome to the Metal Forming Technology course of 2021/2022.

I would like to give you the following information:

a) Classes will start next week (8 of March)

b) The internet page of the course is available at https://fenix.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/disciplinas/TEPla/2021-2022/2-semestre/pagina-inicial

c) The internet page of the course allows downloading the classroom presentations, the software and the examples files that will be used in the laboratory classes

d) The laboratory classes will be focused on the utilization of the finite element computer software that will be utilized throughout the course. So, please bring your computer for the laboratory classes.

e) The first powerpoint file ‘Introduction_MSc_Mec_2021.pdf’ contains the work plan for the entire semester.

f)  The evaluation consists of a mid-term assessment MAP-45 (40% of the final classification) and a project (60% of the final classification, with a minimum admissible classification of 9.5 points out of 20 points).

g) The files named as ‘Project gudelines_MSc_Mec-2021.pdf’, ‘template project report.docx’ and ‘Presentation template.pptx’ are related to the project (guidelines, written report and oral presentation’

h) The project will consist on the project and design of a metal forming tool and will be a team work (3 students per group)

i)  The bibliography is also provided at the internet page of the course but we will mainly follow selected chapters of this book: Metal Forming: Formability, Simulation and Tool Design: Nielsen C.V., Martins P.A.F. 2021 Academic Press, Elsevier – available at the main library of Instituto Superior Tecnico.

j)  The file entitled ‘From linear to non-linear FEM_MSc-Mec_2021.pdf’ is included to refresh your knowledge on linear FEM from BSc level courses.

k) Weekly timetable to attend students and clarify doubts - Friday from 9:00 to 12:00h (Paulo Martins) and Monday from 9:00 to 12:00h (Rui Sampaio)
