Salt in Petroleum Exploration, friend or foe?

1 abril 2016, 11:00 Maria João Correia Colunas Pereira

The seminar “Salt in Petroleum Exploration, friend or foe?" was presented by Mr. Gil Machado, from Galp Energia.

A geologist with a degree from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon with an European Doctorate from University of Aveiro-Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic dealing with Stratigraphy and Petroleum Geology. Worked for Galp Exploration and Production as a Geoscientist since 2010 on all stages of exploration and development planning, from new opportunities to pre-development. Seismic interpretation and sedimentary fairways analysis using seismic attributes were some of the main work areas, including in salt basins.

Worked for Petreoleum Development Oman from 2012 to 2013 as a Stratigrapher. In PDO he was in charge of the Lower Paleozoic and PreCambrian Stratigraphy in the GeoSolutions team. Worked on well stratigraphy while drilling, well litho- and biostratigraphic correlation, refinement of biostratigraphic schemes among other tasks.
