Our first class...

20 setembro 2020, 14:57 Aleksandar Ilic

Dear students,

I would like to invite you ALL (odd & even, a&b) to join me at our first theoretical class on Tuesday (22.09.) at 17h00, which will be held in-person at IST (room: QA1.3).
It will be a nice opportunity to get to know each other and elaborate teaching and evaluation methods that will be adopted in the HPCS course (in particular during the pandemic period).

Given the number of enrolled student and late afternoon slot, it should be quite easy for us to comply with all DGS/IST recommendations (please don't forget your masks). In case you will not be able to attend the class, please let me know via e-mail.

See you on Tuesday.

[UPDATE: 22.09] Zoom link posted in Lectures section for students that might not be able to appear in-person.

Welcome to the HPCS course!

Dear students,

Welcome to the HPCS course! The classes will start on Tuesday (22.09) - see the course schedule.

Following the IST recommendations, the majority of classes will be offered online (via Zoom and/or Google Meets). However, we should potentially meet in-person (at least) once per week. Depending on the number of enrolled students and pandemic evolvement, we will revise this plan during the semester.
Labs will start in the second week and they will be performed in groups of 2 students (preferably remotely). During the semester, we will have 3-4 mini-projects (labs), covering the main aspects of modern parallel computing (vectorization, GPU, multi-core CPU and heterogeneous computing).

Don't bother with this right now - we will detail those matters on our first theoretical class on Tuesday.
Keep safe!
