The topics are at the attached file, as well as the evaluation criteria.
This work is individual.
This work values 30% of the final grade.
Some examples for works T1:
- Description of one application (for example: geosynthetics such as geogrids or geonets used to build load transfer platforms, select a given light material and explain how it can be used and how design is made) - Description of a case study (for example: a particular embankment made of some material; some reinforcement was necessary for the body of the embankment of of the foundation; some failure and its cause or repair, ...)
- Description of some construction procedure (for example: how trial embankments are made; how compaction control is made when non-traditional material is used to build embankments; how settlements or water pressures can be monitoring for a given purpose)
- Description of some construction equipment (for example: if there are
different equipment for the same application, list them and say the
differences; select an equipment and explain how it operates and how the
amount of work performed is controlled by the contractor, etc)
- State-of art on existing equipment for a given application (for example: compaction control; monitoring of water pressure/displacements)
- State-of-art on existing materials for a selected application (for example: fills, drains, etc; light weight materials...) Attached you can find some papers presenting case-studies. Even if you base your work on one of these papers, you must complement what is in the paper with extra information.
