Dear Students,

Welcome to the Metal Forming and Metal Cutting Technologies course of 2025/2026.

I want to give you the following information:

a) Classes will start on September 5.

b) The internet page of the course is available at:

https://fenix.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/disciplinas/TEMaq112/2025-2026/1-semestre

c) The internet page of the course allows downloading the classroom presentations, the software, and the example files that will be used in the laboratory classes.

d) The laboratory classes will focus on demonstrations of technological processes and the use of the finite element computer software that will be used in the project. Please bring your computer when the laboratory classes are focused on finite element computations.

e) The first PowerPoint file, ‘Introduction_MSc_Mat_2025.pdf’, contains the important information and the work plan for the entire period.

f) The evaluation consists of a mid-term assessment MAP45 (50% of the final classification, with a minimum admissible classification of 8 points out of 20 points) and a project (50% of the final classification, with a minimum admissible classification of 9.5 points out of 20 points),

g) The files named ‘Project guidelines_MSc_Mat_2025.pdf’, ‘template_project_report.docx’, and ‘Presentation template.pptx’ must be used for writing the project report and preparing the oral presentation.

h) The project is teamwork (3 students per group).

i) The bibliography is provided on the course's internet page.
