2nd SPO test (12th June)

Students interested in taking the 2nd SPO test (12th June, 9:00 h) should register in Fenix until 12:00 on the 9th of June.
The topics for this test are the program topics not covered in the 1st test and lectured in classes (both theoretical and practical) after the 27th of March (inclusive), but excluding what concerns the simulation sw (SIMUL8).
In terms of PP slides used in the theoretical classes (copies available in section “Theoretical classes materials” of Fenix), this comprehends slides starting in page 41 of Part IV (i.e., modelling perspectives for discrete-event simulation, queueing system models and systems dynamics). However, it should be stressed that the PP slides are basically schematic support tools for the classes and probably more important than what is in the slides is what it is said/discussed in the classes about (or around) those slides. Therefore, unless properly complemented by notes taken by the students during those classes, the copies of PP presentations are not the most effective way to study autonomously the addressed matters. For that purpose, the students are strongly advised to read the recommended bibliography (some of which is made available in Fenix, section “Support and study docs”).
Students are allowed to bring to the test: a calculator (any type, as long as it is used only to perform calculations; computers, tablets, smart phones or any communication devices are not allowed); the form for queueing system models (available in Fenix); and one A4 sheet (both sides) that must be handwritten (computer processed text or photocopies are not allowed). The content of this sheet is free, but it should include any formulas, definitions, etc. that might be needed during the test and must include at the top (within a strip with about 2cm) the identification of the student (name and number). Students must bring along their IST student card (with a photo) or any “official” identification card (“cartão do cidadão”, driving license, passport) also with a photo.
The duration of the test is about 1h 30min and its structure and style will be similar to test papers of previous years (available in section “Previous exams/tests”). However, you should be aware that the program topics to be covered in this test might not match perfectly the ones from previous years.
