Non-Linear Programming model for minimizing the total capital cost of a heat exchanger network (HEN) given the utility loads for every pair of hot and cold streams/utilities. Hands-on session in GAMS for writing the missing parameters and running the model for the total network and the regions above and below the pinch. Representation of the superstructures for hot stream H1 and cold stream C1 (full network). Extracting the optimal values of the heat capacity flowrates and inlet and outlet temperatures from the GAMS results file, to eliminate inactive streams in the superstructure . Representation of the active structure for streams H1 and C1 to show that all constraints are verified in the global optimal solution. The BARON solver was used for global optimization.
