Grades for the 1st part of the course project

A preliminary grading for the 1st delivery of the course project was published online on the course webpage. 


Questions about the grading should be directed to the instructors for the lab classes, and students are encouraged to check the correction for their projects during the office hours scheduled for their lab class instructor (please inform the instructors if you plan to check your project during their office hours).

The final grades regarding all 3 parts of the project will be assigned after the discussions/presentations, scheduled to the end of the semester.

Classes for next week - support to the course project

Next week (November 5-9), we will have no theoretical lectures in the SIBD course, and all the available hours with the course instructors will be used to provide support to the development of the course project. Students are encouraged to present instructors with their questions regarding the proposed assignment for Part 2.


Support from the lab instructors will be given during the regular schedule for the labs and associated office hours. There are no theoretical lectures planned for the regular schedule and, instead, support regarding the project will also be provided by the lab instructors in the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, November the 6th - 15h30 - 16h30 - Gabinete 2.64, Piso 2, Pavilhão de Civil
  • Friday, November the 9th, 09h30 - 11h00 - Room EA2

Due to a participation in a conference, Prof. Bruno Martins will not be at IST during the following week, although questions regarding the course project can still be directed to all the instructors through e-mail. 

The deadline for the delivery of the 2nd part on the project is Friday, November the 9th.

Lab Guides 05 and 06

The guidelines for the next two practical classes were published with the solutions for each of the queries (i.e., the sets/lists of tuples expected to be produced as result).


Students are encouraged to try solving the problems before to the lab class.

LAB 14 Monday 15:30-17:00

Exceptionally on the 22, next Monday , the LAB 14 will be taught at P13 Matemática instead of the usual room.

Groups for the course project

Several students enrolled in SIBD have still not registered in a group for the labs plus the course project.


Students in this situation that are not "student workers" and that plan to do the regular evaluation should register their groups as soon as possible. A group registration will be needed to submit the project through the Fenix system by next Friday, and we will not accept project deliveries by e-mail.
