Useful information about the projects

    Project Report

The project reports can be written in English or Portuguese, using the IEEE "Templates for Transactions" article format, available from  http://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/authors/author_templates.html  in MSWord and LaTex (preferred) formats.

The reports must have a maximum number of 6 (six) pages, including figures, tables, references and any annexes. Authors biographies are not required.

A typical structure for such a report (though it may be different) is

    Abstract (summary of the work)

    1. Introduction and Motivation (brief description of what the project was about and the motivation for the topic)

    2. Methods and Algorithms (brief explanation of the methods used and ROS packages/algorithms used - this is mainly to make sure you understood the conceptual and the implementation part, and to introduce notation - do not write like in a book or tutorial paper)

    3. Implementation (describe the details of what you did, possibly divided in sections, one per major subsystems, e.g., navigation, mapping, HRI, task coordination and integration/architectures)

    4. Experimental Results (show the most relevant results to illustrate the merits and the possible unresoved issues)

     5. Conclusions (lessons taken, major conclusions, reasons for what went wrong, if anything)

    Project Poster

A template for the poster can be found here: Poster Template.pptx

The poster maximum size is A0 in portrait orientation.

    Notes:

    • The poster presentation schedule will be announced at the course web page
    • The posters should be printed and placed by the groups before the start of the poster session
    • It is up to you to decide whether to do the presentation and discussion in Portuguese or in English
    • This is a public event, being an opportunity to disseminate the project among the IST community, therefore, even though you are only required to stay at the poster during your presentation, it would be nice to stay for a longer period of time so that you can practice/explain/discuss your project, not only with your colleagues, but also with  people outside the course that happens to be interested in your poster
    • General poster design recommendations include keeping the text short and assertive, use plenty of graphical material (diagrams, plots, etc), focus on the most relevant issues. Further recommendations can be found, for instance, here: https://guides.nyu.edu/posters
