29 outubro 2019, 09:28 • Alexandra Moutinho
This Wednesday 30 October there will be no class. A substitution class will be arranged and announced in due time.
The students can take the opportunity to work on their project description and entity-relationship diagrams, to be submitted for peer-review evaluation.
The following calendar is defined according to the evaluation method of POBD:
- 6th November (till 23h59, through Fenix system): Deadline for submission of project description and database definition with entity relationship (E-R) diagram
- 7th November: Assignment of project descriptions and E-R diagrams for peer-review (each group reviews 2 other projects)
- 12th November (till 23h59, through Fenix system): Deadline for project peer-reviews submission
- 13th November and 15th November (during classes): E-R diagrams presentation and discussion
Till the 6th November, you should submit a pdf file (2 pages maximum) on Fenix with your case study description and the E-R diagram of the respective database. If you want, you can also submit your use-case diagram to support your database description, but it is not mandatory for other groups to provide feedback on the use-case diagrams.
The purpose of this submission and consequent peer-review is to allow you to gain practice in designing E-R models but also to develop your communication skills (not only in communicating your ideas but also in providing feedback to others). Therefore, at this time focus should be given to:
- properly describing your project so that others grasp its purpose;
- correctly representing the database E-R diagram, namely paying attention to notation, and that the diagram properly describes the database necessary to accomplish the description provided.
