Métodos de Avaliação

To complete this course, students must fulfill the following three requirements:

1- Attend a minimum of 6 seminars by world-class researchers from several areas. The list of talks to chose from will be announced in channel  #running-seminars, and is open to suggestions by students. Your selected 6 seminars should:
  • include at least 3 synchronous talks
  • cover a variety of subjects, other than your PhD topics
By the end of the course (14 July) please report on six selected seminars you attended, with a critical perspective where you point out the positive and negative points you appreciated in each seminar.

2. Participate in the course’s interdisciplinarity pitch workshop by making a 5 min presentation, and/or participating in the discussions of other students’ presentations. You are encouraged to present your work (future/in progress), with a highlight on
  • ideas for how/why to bridge different subjects, or
  • presenting a problem in a way that facilitates its understanding by an audience that can potentially contributed with suggestions.
In either case, the field of expertise of the audience it is intended for should be stated.
In the discussion, please help bring out the potential synergies between the topics that are being touched in each presentation, or in making suggestions of areas that could be pertinent to the problems being studied.
Further organizational details in channel  #pitch-workshop

3. Co-organize with the class a series of 3 seminars on interdisciplinary work, to take place between 7 June and 7 July. This involves participating in:
  • proposal, selection and invitation of speakers
  • scheduling of the talks
  • dissemination of the seminars
  •  logistics of the talks
The seminars can be about a research problem that either crosses disciplinary boundaries or uses techniques from one area to solve problems in another area.
The co-organization work will take place in channel  #cross-seminars. The aim is to make it into an open event that is promoted at least across the DEI department.

If you have any questions or any obstacles to completing any of the requirements, please let me know in advance in order to sort out possible alternative solutions.
