The final classifications are presented at the page of the subject, where are included the marks of the practical and theoretical examinations and the mark of the report

Study of 2 streets

 

Choose 2 streets in zones (quarters) with different features.

One of the streets should be located in a predominantly residential area. The other should be in another kind of zone (or another quarter), for instance in a commercial or industrial area, inside a complex or a logistic area, or inside a university, or nearby a church, or a railway station or a supermarket.

Only parts (or stretches) of both streets should be considered (not the complete length of the streets). Obligatorily, your choices have to be validated by your Professor.

 

1. Cross section of both streets. Draw a cross-section of both streets, taking in consideration the width of the carriage way (where cars drive and park) and of the sidewalks. In your drawings you shall mention all dimensions and inclinations. Include photos of your streets in order to have a general overview of your cross-section. Comment the geometry of the street, taking in consideration the zones or areas (or quarters) where they are included.

 

2. Sidewalks. Estimate the level of service which exist in both sidewalks of only one of your streets. Draw 2 simplified cross-sections of the sidewalks in order to calculate the pedestrian flow (number of pedestrians by time unit) either in a rush hour and in another period, evaluate the global width and the used width. Comment your results. Whenever you find that the sidewalk has any kind of problems, please report them and include your comments on how the performance of the sidewalks could be improved in order to reach the adequate conditions.

 

3. Pedestrian crossings. Draw a pedestrian crossing which may exist in one of your streets (mark the width and the vertical and horizontal signals associated). Comment the situation and include your assessments on how the performance of the pedestrian crossing could be improved in order to reach the adequate conditions.

 

4. Parking in the street. Draw a schematic plan with the parking places which are available in one of your streets. Study the occupation of the street or the area (quarter) and the overall number of parking places which are available (estimate values, whenever necessary, always justifying such values). Comment your results and include your assessments on how the performance of the parking area could be improved in order to reach the adequate conditions

 

5. Drainage of a street. Comment the surface drainage of your streets (inclination of the sidewalks, any existing sewerage system, the dimensions on the edges of the carriage ways, contributions for the flows from the roofs and verandas of the adjacent buildings, etc). Include your assessments on how the performance of the parking area could be improved in order to reach the adequate conditions

 

6. Structural cross-section of the sidewalk and the carriage way area. In your cross sections of the streets, make a schematic drawing of their structure. Arbitrate values, whenever necessary. Comment you results.

 

7. Service infrastructures. In your cross sections of the streets, make a schematic drawing of the several service infrastructures which may exist (drainage and sewerage systems, water supply pipes, electricity cables, gas conduits or pipes, TV cable cables, etc). Include those that you have identified either in the sidewalks or in the carriage way. This study will be made essentially by locating the covers of the visiting boxes which may be seen at the surface of sidewalks and carriage ways. Arbitrate values, whenever necessary. Comment you results.

Estudo dois arruamentos

 

Seleccione dois arruamentos em duas zonas com características diferentes.

Um deles deverá ser num sector predominantemente residencial. O outro poderá ser escolhido num sector preferencialmente comercial ou industrial, ou mesmo numa zona desportiva ou logística, num complexo universitário, junto a uma igreja, a uma estação de comboios ou a um supermercado.

Apenas se irá considerar um trecho desses 2 arruamentos. As suas escolhas terão de ser previamente validadas pelo Professor da disciplina.

 

1. Perfil transversal da rua. Desenhe o perfil transversal da rua e também a planta numa extensão correspondente ao um quarteirão aproximadamente. Procure dar uma particular atenção à largura da faixa de rodagem (zona de circulação de veículos e de estacionamento) e dos passeios. Indique as dimensões e as inclinações que utilizar. Apresente uma fotografia geral de cada arruamento de forma a ilustrar o referido perfil transversal. Comente a geometria desse arruamento, tendo em conta o sector onde ele se enquadra.

 

2. Passeios. Calcule o nível de serviço dos passeios existentes num dos arruamentos escolhidos. Faça duas secções por cada passeio; calcule o fluxo (número de peões por unidade de tempo) num período de ponta e fora do período de ponta, a largura bruta e a largura útil. Comente os resultados obtidos. Caso o passeio lhe tenha suscitado uma opinião desfavorável na sua análise, refira como faria eventualmente para melhorar a situação existente dentro de limites aceitáveis.

 

3. Passadeiras. Faça um desenho em planta de uma passadeira existente num dos arruamentos seleccionados (indique de forma clara a sua largura e os sinais verticais e horizontais que a assinalam). Comente os resultados obtidos. Se este caso lhe tenha suscitado uma opinião desfavorável na sua análise, refira como faria eventualmente para melhorar a situação existente dentro de limites aceitáveis.

 

4. Estacionamento na rua. Faça um desenho em planta dos estacionamentos disponíveis num dos arruamentos seleccionados (indique de forma clara as zonas de estacionamento). Indique o tipo de ocupação do sector e o número de lugares necessários (arbitre valores se necessário dentro de limites razoáveis, justificando a sua opção). Comente os resultados obtidos. Se este caso lhe tiver suscitado uma opinião desfavorável na sua análise, refira como faria eventualmente para melhorar a situação existente dentro de limites aceitáveis.

 

5. Drenagem da rua. Comente o tipo de drenagem superficial do arruamento (inclinações dos passeios, secções disponíveis para escoamento das águas junto do lancil, contribuições das drenagens dos prédios vizinhos, sumidouros e sarjetas, etc). Comente os resultados obtidos. Caso a rua lhe tenha suscitado uma opinião desfavorável na sua análise, refira como faria eventualmente para melhorar a situação existente dentro de limites aceitáveis.

 

6. Estrutura do passeio e do arruamento. No perfil transversal dos arruamentos, esquematize a sua estrutura (passeios e zonas de estacionamento e circulação de veículos). Arbitre valores, se necessário. Comente os resultados obtidos.

 

7. Serviços. No perfil transversal dos arruamentos, esquematize a localização dos vários serviços identificados (esgotos pluviais e domésticos, água, electricidade, telefones, gás, TV cabo, etc) quer dos que identificou nos passeios quer nas zonas de estacionamento e circulação de veículos. Esta análise será feita essencialmente pelas tampas das caixas de visita que se observam à superfície. Arbitre valores, se necessário. Comente os resultados ob
