The following clarifies the upcoming quiz, called MAP45, and which takes place Monday, October 6.

Here are the rules for the quiz. Please read them carefully, in particular, the rule at the end that describes when you enter and leave the room of the quiz:

a) you must bring an identification card with your name and photo (if you have an IST card, bring it);

b) this is a fully closed-book quiz (in Portuguese: "teste sem qualquer consulta"); 

c) you can bring to the quiz only two scratch sheets of paper (in Portuguese: "apenas duas folhas de rascunho"), but which should be completely blank at the beginning (nothing should be written on them before you start the quiz).These scratch sheets of paper that you bring should be identified with your name and number and should be also given to us at the end of the quiz;

d) no electronic calculators (of any kind) are allowed;

e) the quiz consists only of multiple-choice questions; 

f) you mark your answers to the multiple-choice questions directly in the pages where the questions are printed (that is, in the pages of the quiz themselves). There is no negative score for marking an incorrect choice (an incorrect choice in a problem means zero points as the score on that problem);

g) the quiz is about the contents of the slides and the set of exercises that correspond to module 1 (formulating optimization problems) and to module 2 (unconstrained optimization). This means that, in terms of the set of exercises, the relevant exercises for you to practice range from exercise 1 to exercise 30;

h) the duration of the quiz is 45 min;

i) the quiz is to be done only in presence (the quiz cannot be taken online);

j) for the students enrolled in the shift OA222T01 (Fridays 08:00 - 10:00; Mondays 08:00 - 10:00):- you enter the room EA3 only at 8h55 (there is no lecture before that time);- you receive the quiz at 9h05;- you return the quiz (and the two scratch sheets, if applicable) at 9h50;- you leave the room at 10h00;

k) for the students enrolled in the shift OA22T02 (Mondays 10:00 - 12:00; Wednesdays 08:00 - 10:00):- you enter in the room EA2 by the door at the front at 10h00;- you receive the quiz at 10h05;- you return the quiz (and the two scratch sheets, if applicable) at 10h50;- you leave the room immediately by the door at the back (there is no lecture after that time).
