DECISION SUPPORT MODELS COURSE: ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SHIFT TOWARDS NON-FACE TO FACE TEACHING

16 março 2020, 10:34 Mónica Oliveira

Dear students,

Here is key information regarding the adaptation of the Decision Support Models course to non-face to face teaching:

•                    The program will be maintained, with slight adaptations given the interruption in teaching (see below);

•                    The rescheduled program assumes that online teaching will occur until the end of the semester; in case the situation changes and we receive instructions from IST, we will go back towards face to face teaching;

•                    The following adaptations are made to the evaluation of the course, namely:

o   Regarding the first test, it is cancelled and moved to the 27th of May, the date of the second test;

o   Regarding the first groupwork, students will need to submit all files but will not need to make presentations of the groupwork; still, students may be asked by lecturers to answer to questions regarding the groupwork in an online format;

o   Given the suspension of one week in teaching, the deadlines for the first and second groupworks have been extended;

o   If any issues arise when carrying out the first groupwork, you should contact Prof. João Lourenço;

•                    Regarding the teaching format, most lectures and classes are planned to be delivered through videoconferencing, and whenever possible, the videos of the lectures will be made available; in some lectures the option will be to make available videos, and in some classes students will be asked to follow tutorials; given new teaching formats, it may happen that lecturers or classes will have a duration of less than 1,5 hours;

•                    Every week you will keep receiving updates regarding the format of teaching to be applied in that specific week;

•                    Recommended weekly readings will keep being used, and are now more important in this teaching context;

•                    We will make available on Fenix a document with instructions to follow for videoconferencing;

•                    Online office hours from the lecturers are now available in the course document.

Please read carefully all the documents made available through fenix. Please also consider that we are working in a highly uncertain environment, and that we all need to be adaptative to possible forthcoming changes.
