General considerations were made considering the classification of RNAs into coding and non-coding. The phenomenon of RNA interference in eukaryotes and prokaryotes was presented and the main mechanisms used presented and discussed. The miRNA class was presented and their implications in human diseases was presented and discussed. Examples of non-coding RNA databases and bioinformatics tools for non-coding RNAs structure prediction and mRNA target predictions were presented
