WELCOME - Lessons and Evaluation Guidelines
Dear students
Hope all is good.
We will start next monday our Course.
The objectives of the Strategic Management discipline and compliance with the program are based on the following fundamental bibliography: Exploring Strategy (2016): Text & Cases by Johnson G., Regner, P., Scholes K., Angwin, D., and Whittington, R., Pearson Education.
The continuing activity during the period is based on theoretical lessons (2 per week – Monday and Tuesday - 1h30 hours each) and practical classes to discuss Group Works. Practical classes will begin on 6th of March.
All slides and documentation, including bibliography, will be uploaded in Fenix on a regular basis.
The evaluation method remains quite simple:
· Students should integrate a group work team (up to 6 members each team), select one of the shifts available (10:00AM or 02:00 PM) and send to me by email (paulo.simoes.caldas@tecnico.ulisboa.pt) the shift selected, the composition of the team, the email contact of the team leader, and the name of the selected company/organization, till 27th of February 2023.
The goal is to be very autonomous and to conclude a Company Strategic Management report which aims to be delivered at the end of the period (till 10th of April 2023; 07:00PM).
This activity is worth 50% of your final grade.
This Report comprises the 4 dimensions of the program - History and Strategic Purpose of the company- HSP, External Analysis – EA, Internal Analysis – IA and Strategy Formulation – SF.
I will upload in Fenix an excellent example of the expected Company Strategic Management Report and a structure proposal for each part of the work.
· The Final Test, to be carried out online (11th of April 2023; 11:00AM) will be worth the remaining 50%.
The test is composed of 20 multiple-choice questions (lasts 40m). Each correct answer scores 1 value (10 points). No discount for wrong answers. All students that did not have Group work grade and continuing activity during the period, because of extraordinary reasons previously agreed with me, can do this Final Test and it will count 100% of the final grade.
The Exam will be held online on 28th of April (03:30PM). All students that did not have Group work grade and continuing activity during the period, because of extraordinary reasons previously agreed with me, can do this Exam and it will count 100% of the final grade. For the students with continuing activity and Group Work grade, this Exam can also be used to upgrade the Final Test Grade and then it will count 50%
