Title: Progress in design methodologies for analog and RF integrated circuits
Prof. Francisco Fernandez, U. Sevilla and IMSE-CNM

Short Abstract: This presentation overviews traditional design methodologies for analog integrated circuits and compares them with emerging bottom-up approaches. Integration of physical design issues and application to radio-frequency circuits are discussed and demonstrated.

About the Speaker: Francisco V. Fernandez got the Physics-Electronics degree from the University of Seville, Spain, in 1988 and his Ph. D. degree in 1992. In 1993, he worked as a postdoctoral research
fellow at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). From 1995 to 2009, he was an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Electronics and Electromagnetism of University of Seville, where he was promoted to Full Professor in 2009. He is also a Department Head at IMSE-CNM, a research institute of the National Research Council, the largest
research institution in Spain. His research interests lie in the design and design methodologies of analog and mixed-signal circuits. Dr. Fernandez has authored or edited five books and has co-authored more than 150 papers in international journals and conferences. Dr. Fernandez is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Integration, the VLSI Journa lElsevier). Since 2010 he is also Technical Manager of the Electronic Technology and Communications Program of the National R&D plan of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. He regularly serves at the Program Committee of several international conferences. He has also participated as researcher or main researcher in numerous National and European R&D projects.
