Posters for next Lecture

19 novembro 2018, 12:44 Miguel Amaral

Dear Students,

I want you to prepare a poster to be presented and discussed next Friday in class. The poster should be prepared for A0 size and should explain your proposal in a very objective and robust way. You should include information on the Why (context/motivation/need), How (concept/vision/idea) and What (specific good or service to be delivered). You should be clear about the operations needed to implement/use your solution and about the Impact/ Value proposition of your project (see an example of the VP Canvas for example here or here. You can include a Business model Canvas and do all you can so that the poster is clear about all the key details and steps needed for developing your project. Try to use diagrams, tables, charts, images and avoid dense blocks of text. You should prepare a 5 minutes pitch based on your poster.

Send me the files until Wednesday in the afternoon so that I can have time to review them before our lecture on Friday.

Regards,
Miguel Amaral

Dear Students,

I am still in the USA and unfortunately it will not be possible to give our lecture tomorrow (I will only arrive in the weekend).

However, I will be available next Tuesday during practically all day - from 9:30h until 17:00h - at my office in TagusPark to talk with the groups about your ideas.

I will also send you some comments on your preliminary ideas by e-mail and instructions for next steps, between tonight and tomorrow.

See you soon
Miguel

Practical lecture today - Socioeconomic assessment of key regions in India

12 outubro 2018, 13:38 Miguel Amaral

Dear Students,

In our practical lecture today we will do some exploratory research about a couple of universities and cities in India, from where the challenges for your final projects are coming (our partners for this semester). The universities and cities (in parentheses) are the following:

• Parul University (Vadodara)

• Kalinga Institute of Technology  - KIT (Bubaneshwar)

• Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering & Technology – PIET  (Nagpur)

• Savitribai Phule Pune University (Pune)

• Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur - IITK (Kanpur)

Try todo, for example a PESTLE analysis to characterise these regions. PESTLE  is a mnemonic which in its expanded form denotes P for Political, E for Economic, S for Social, T for Technological, L for Legal and E for Environmental.

Check for potential problems, challenges and opportunities at the local level for each region.

In the end we will cross all the information obtained and discuss it in class.

All the best
Miguel
