[ERPD_T1]: general information

  • The first evaluation test will be held on Tuesday, April, 24th, starting at 20h:00m, with a duration of 01h:00m.
  • The test is divided in two parts. The first part consists of a set of multiple answer questions and the second part consists of a set of problems. 
  • No IST test form is required. The test is to be completed strictly in the test itself, in the spaces provided for that purpose, and no additional sheets are allowed.
  • The use of a calculator is forbidden in the first part and allowed in the second part.
  • The use of the scientific computation capabilities of the calculator, namely to compute integrals or solve non-linear equations, is not allowed.
  • In the second part of the test, it is allowed the use of a memory aid composed by an A4 paper sheet (single side, handwritten, no computer text or photocopies), containing all relevant information. No formulas or constant values will be provided on the test.
  • The contents that are to be evaluated are: Chapter 1 - The Power System, Chapter 2 - Economic assessment of renewable energy projects, Chapter 3 - Photovoltaic Energy and Chapter 4 - Wind Energy.
  • The enrollment in Fénix is now open and is absolutely mandatory. Otherwise, it is not possible to attend the test.
  • The language of the test will be English. 
  • The distribution of the students per classroom will be announced on April, 19th.

Invited Talk by Mr. João Crispim

I am happy to announce an invited talk to be held on ERPD theory class (EA5 classroom) on Wednesday, March, 21st, 15:30, by Mr. João Crispim, Managing Director at Homing Homes.

Title: Business case for PV and storage in households
Speaker: Mr. João Crispim is an electrical engineer from IST with a Masters in business and innovation from ISEG and one in business from Nova School of Business and Economics. Previous experience at the Portuguese Transmission Grid Operator, in Oil & Gas at General Electric and at the Department for Energy and Climate Change in the UK. Currently heading Homing Homes, an Enhanced Environmental Profile building promoter, part of the Casais Group.
I invite all the students to attend this interesting talk.

Welcome to the 2017/18 course on “Renewable Energy Sources and Distributed Power Generation” (ERPD) at Técnico Lisboa. 

This announcement intends to provide some basic initial information about the course.
Theory classes will begin on Monday, Feb. 19th.
The course schedule includes two Theory classes and one Problems class per week.
Many students come from abroad. As so, most of the classes will be presented in English:
Theory classes – Monday, 11:00-12:30, and Wednesday, 15:30-17:00 (both in English)
Problems classes – Monday, 14:00-15:30 (English) or Tuesday, 08:00-09:30 (English) or Wednesday, 14:00-15:30 (Portuguese) 
The problems will be posted in the appropriated section in the week before the relevant problems class.
The slides will be posted in the appropriate section after the last theory class of the relevant Chapter.
