Internship / Thesis Opportunities (Emissium – Lisbon)

Two project opportunities are currently available at Emissium (Lisbon).

Both positions may be carried out either as internships or full‑time roles, and can be combined with a Master’s thesis, provided the thesis follows IST academic requirements.
1. Power System Forecasting – Modeling Generation & Price
Work focused on improving forecasting accuracy for power systems, including:
- modelling dispatchable and non‑dispatchable generation,
- developing machine‑learning models for day‑ahead electricity price forecasting,
- integrating these models into Emissium’s existing forecasting stack.
2. Understanding and Building on the Imbalanced Market
Work focused on analysing and developing tools for the European imbalance/balancing market, including:
- market analysis and interpretation,
- integration of high‑fidelity data sources,
- development of infrastructure to support new products in this domain.
Additional Information
Location: Lisbon (on‑site)
Duration: 6 to 12 months
Positions are paid
Possibility of continuation into a permanent role
Suitable for integration with a Master’s thesis, subject to IST rules (thesis must have an IST supervisor and maintain appropriate academic depth)

Repetition of T#1 and T#2 and Final grades

Repetition of T#1 and T#2, and Final grades are available at the 'Assessment' tab.

The repetition of T#1 and T#2 is available for the student to review on THU, April 23, 09:00 a.m., at the Power Systems Section (Área Científica de Energia) located at the Electricity Building (Pavilhão de Eletricidade).
The students are kindly invited to check the final grades and report any mistake asap. 
The final grades will be uploaded to the administrative office on MON, April 27. After this date, no more changes are possible. 

Repetition of Tests

The repetition of the tests will be held on TUE, April 14, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., at the IA classroom.

First, it is Test#1, then a small break, and next, Test#2.
The conditions for the repetition of the tests (test structure, duration, memory aid, etc.) are the same as for the first attempt. The final grade of each test is the best among the two attempts. 
Enrolment is open until April 10 at https://forms.gle/dwAFj9DRC8TZju2v5 Failure to enrol may result in not being allowed to take the test.

T#2 and current Finals

T#2 grades and current Finals are available at the 'Assessment' tab.

T#2 is available for the student to review on Thursday, April 9, 09:00 a.m. at the Power Systems Section (Área Científica de Energia) located at the Electricity Building (Pavilhão de Eletricidade). 
If you plan to take the exam (repetition of both tests, or the repetition of a single test), please enrol asap (deadline: Friday, April 10) at https://forms.gle/dwAFj9DRC8TZju2v5 
Students who do not enrol can not take the exam, because the number of copies and classrooms will be based on the enrolment.
