Welcome to Econometrics. Info about first lab session

Dear students,

Welcome to the Econometrics course!

This will be a demanding course but I’m certain you’ll feel satisfied with all your hard work by the end.

I’m writing to let you know that the lab sessions will start tomorrow, Thursday 4th, at 11h00 in room 0.17.

The following week, on Tuesday, we will have the first Lecture and the remaining lab sessions.

The main focus of the first Lab session will be to guide you through the installation of Stata, the software we will be using to run our analyses and take our first steps using it.

On the course’s website on Fenix, you can find a section called “Labs” where I’ve put a file with instructions on how to download and install Stata, as well as a file with the registration and activation details (Serial number, activation code).

You don’t have to install it just yet, but before the Lab session I kindly ask you to please download the installer (either Windows or Mac) onto your computers. The file is quite large and sometimes the Wifi connection at the campus can be a bit slow. If you download the installer at home and show up with that ready for the Lab session, things will run much more smoothly.
