Final Pitch @ LISPOLIS
4 junho 2025, 10:06 • Miguel Amaral
Dear Students,
In order to organize the event and to keep the audience engaged, Lispolis suggested that teams should have 5 minutes for the pitch. Please adapt your presentation accordingly and rehearse it a couple of times. In general , if you consider 1 minute per slide it will give you a good control of the pace of the presentation, but if you want to include more slides that is ok, as long as you do not exceed the 5 minutes. You can prepare some backup slides in case the jury asks for something more technical.
Each team will have a different approach that is suited to its project; however, in general, try to start with a story, a persona, a practical case - showing an evident problem – so that you can engage the audience immediately. Next explain how the problem is being solved in that specific market. Explain how the problem is being currently addressed and how the company can improve the current solution (discuss your proposal/assumptions). Then you can show how you confirmed your assumptions with secondary and - essentially - primary data, through interviews to specialists and stakeholders over the course of the semester. For example include one methodological slide with a chart (or other type of visualisation) with the number of interviews (weekly and accumulated) you did over the last months, the type of interviewees, the age distribution of interviewees, etc. Use pictures; use simple but appealing layouts/ graphic design; use a large font type and few words/sentences per slide. Do not show the complete BMC in the final pitch – it will be full of text and hard to understand. Focus on the dimensions that are really central in your solution/proposal.
You do not have to present the promotional video at Lispolis - you should uploaded it in Fenix until 13 June, we postponed the deadline so that you can focus on the pitch now.
If you need additional help just let us know.

NEXT STEPS
19 maio 2025, 23:18 • Miguel Amaral
Dear Students, our course is almost reaching its end; the BMC building blocks were all addressed and the projects are structured and almost finished. Below you can find information regarding the next steps in our course (just to reinforce what was already in the syllabus + some additional updates and details)
23/05/2025:
- This Friday will be IST – DAY and, as you know, there will be no Lectures at IST. Students can use this time to meet with companies (face-to-face or online) to fine tune their final projects. It is mandatory to have the meeting/pitch with companies, but not necessarily on Friday; each team should arrange things directly with the companies, according with the availability of both the companies and the team – as long as you do it before 30 May (our next lecture). Try to do a 10-minute presentation to the CEOs/founders followed by a Q&A period. The companies will then provide feedback on your performance to you and to the instructors.
30/05/2025:
- Presentation: Teams will present their storytelling and communication strategies regarding the final pitch. Interviews can be done - with potential users, friends, colleagues, etc – to validate your approaches (just like the hypotheses) and provide you with additional feedback.
05/06/2025:
- Delivery: Detailed Final Report in the form of a PowerPoint presentation file up to 20 slides. Important concepts and ideas can be included in the slides as footnotes and/or annex slides. It is important to show the capacity to address all the BMC dimensions; Quality of the value proposition and the solution; Robust assumptions and estimations; Different scenario analyses; Technical and financial feasibility of the project.
- Delivery: The “promotional” video. The video should have the duration of up to 5 minutes and should summarize / advertise the team’s final value proposition and solution/proposal. The format and approach are free, teams may want to do acting/role-playing, use personas, use still or moving images, narrator voices, etc, as long as it communicates the initial problem, the solution and the central ideas of the Project.
- This delivery was scheduled to 30/5 but we decided to postpone it to 5/6 so that students can have extra time for preparing the report / presentation/ video. Both the final presentation and the report can be uploaded in the same file. (in the habitual weekly presentations’ folder)
06/06/2025:
- Students will do the final presentation at LISPOLIS (around 4pm - to be confirmed). Companies, one Investor and the Instructors of the course will be part of the evaluation panel.
Regards, have a nice week.
