Lecture notes - Mathematica

Given that the first class was quite a novelty, and the pen does not work so well, we shall use a different approach in the following lectures. The lectures will be given in Mathematica notebooks (note that as a student of IST you have access to install Mathematica software bundle).

Mathematica has the advantage that it is possible to experiment the concepts with its inbuilt functions, like Euclides Algorithm, and many, many others. If students do not like Mathematica  they can download the .pdf instead of the .nb.

The sketch of the proofs will be written in class directly in the notebook, so you will be given a proof-less notebook before class. Students can bring the notebook to class and fill by hand the exercises. It is strongly suggested that students solve in the class the exercises together with the lecturer, and write them. Not all the exercises, even those that are solved in class, will be published online.

For the moment, only the first lecture is available with all the exercises solved.
