Instructions for Remote Classes

Here are the instructions for the remote classes.

Theory Classes
We will be using Colibri-Zoom for the theoretical classes. Sometime before each class I will post a link in this announcements page (this is a public space, if we run into problems the link will be posted in one of the tabs reserved for students).
The plan is to present a couple of slides during which all students are muted, and then pause to let students ask questions. If a student has a question/remark that thinks may clarify some point important for all other students, please say so in the chat window, I'll be monitoring that and will address this immediately.

We will start with no registration/login required. If problems arise,we may revert this rule.
The first time you use zoom you need to install the zoom application. In order go through this initialization step smoothly, I propose we make a drill on Monday (March 16), at the regular class schedule 9h30. No class, just a dress rehearsal. Here's the link:

Lab Classes
For the labs we will use Discord. You will need an account, please visit discordapp.com and create one for yourself. We suggest you install the discord application and work from there, but you can simply use the browser.
We will have channel PDC for this class. To join this channel, please login to your discord account in your app/browser and in another tab visit the link:

https://discord.gg/AUPFBPw

and accept the invitation. When you select the PDC channel, you will be in text area #welcome which should have all the instructions on how to setup your group and interact with the professors. This tool allows a separate interaction between a set of students andthe professor, through text, audio and screen-sharing.
You can use remotely the machines in Lab 13. First login to borg:

$ ssh -X <fenixID>@borg.rnl.tecnico.ulisboa.pt

and then to the lab:

$ ssh -X lab13pN

where N is a value 1 through 10 (the PC id).

Again, we suggest we do a trial this Monday at 11h. So please, create your discord account and follow these instructions before that.

Office Hours
We plan to use discord also for the office hours. A professor will be available during the defined schedules, but you can leave questions that may be answered in between these schedules/classes.

Suggestions to improve this interactions are welcomed!
Stay safe.
