• MOOC Técnico Data Science: classification

Communication:

• all communication shall be done through the Piazza platform (follow instructions on section Support);
• questions already asked and answered will not be answered again;
• only personal questions shall be send to my email.

Enrolment on the different shifts:

• all students are welcome to the course - ignore if the system says there is no room for you;
• students have to find a team of 4 in order to enrol in the labs;
• teams enrolment will be done in Fénix, from November 10th at 8 o'clock in the evening;
• each team has their shift in accordance to the second lab of the week;
• each student may attend to any first lab of the week (if there is room available);
• teams are enrolled in a first come first served policy.

Evaluation:

• E: exam (mandatory)
• P: project (mandatory)
• L: labs (project tasks) (optional)
  

Theoretical lessons:

• students shall attend to two theoretical classes per week (one on Mondays and another on Wednesdays or Thursdays);
• there is no constraint regarding the campus you attend, but usually there are less students in Tagus;
• students shall watch the videos listed on section Lectures before each class - there will be a brief summary of the videos in the beginning of the class (around 30 minutes);
• then the following hour will be used to explore different case studies, discussing each alternatives to address them;
• the last 30 minutes will be used to solve exercises.

Labs:

• are optional,
• shall be attended by teams of 4 students (if you don't have a team find one);
• there are no constraints for the team composition beside the number of students - students from different campus and programs can mix in the same team;
• trabalhadores-estudantes officially recognised are allowed to work alone or in teams, but are strongly discouraged;
• students shall attend two labs per week:
• • one lab per week is used to discuss exercises and support the project development;
  • the other lab is used for continuous evaluation of the project - only teams choosing continuous evaluation are allowed to attend this lab;
  • the labs for evaluation are already announced in section Labs;
  • in the labs for evaluation, each team will attend the lab for 10 or 15 minutes, where they shall show their results for the project tasks already announced in section Labs;
• students are allowed to enter the lab 10 minutes before their scheduled time;
• the tasks to accomplish are tasks asked on the project, so students opting for the continuous evaluation are not asked to do any extra work.

Support hours:

• any question relating to theoretical aspects or organisational issues shall be put in the support hours with me (Cláudia Antunes) or through the communication channel;
• any question of project interpretation shall be put in the support hours with me (Cláudia Antunes) or through the communication channel;
• any question relating development topics (programming environment and programming) may be put in any support hours and through the communication channel.
