2nd MAP45: 14/04/2023 (Friday), at 14:00 h, Lecture Room QA1.3 (South Tower, floor 1)

The second MAP45 will take place n the 14/04/2023 (Friday), at 14:00 h, in Lecture Room QA1.3 (South Tower, floor 1).

Please be present in the room 15 minutes in advance.

You should bring blank exam sheets for writing the answers to the questions.

 

Rules:

1- Besides the test sheet and the blank exam sheets, you are allowed to have on the table:

- blank scrap paper

- the Periodic Table, and

- a calculator

2- Mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, etc. have to be turned OFF during the MAP45.

3- If you give up, you have to stay silent in the room until the end of the MAP45 and deliver the exam sheet saying you have given up.


Laboratory sessions

LABORATORY SAFETY


1) All students must comply with the safety standards of Chemistry Laboratories

2) Before entering the laboratory you should:

- Read the Basic Safety Rules in the Laboratories.

- Read the Safety Manual for Laboratories at http://nshs.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/seguranca-em-laboratorios/;

- IMPORTANT: Fill and sign the READING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT RECORD OF THE BASIC SAFETY RULES IN LABORATORIES, which can be downloaded in the previous link, fill out, sign and e-mail the PDF file to the laboratory faculty (rui.galhano@tecnico.ulisboa.pt) before the start of the first laboratory class. The file should be named Lab_nnnnnn_Name_FamilyName.pdf in which nnnnnn is the 'IST number'

3) In the laboratory each student must carry personal protective equipment:

- Lab coat;

- Goggles, safety glasses or face protection shield


LABORATORY CLASSES

1) Lab sessions will be supervised by Dr. Rui Galhano dos Santos and will take place at the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry (LQI), on Floor 0 of the Chemistry Building.

2) Students should organize in groups of 3, and enroll in Fenix before February 26th.

3) Each group will have 4 laboratory sessions, covering polymer synthesis and characterization, on weeks 2, 3, 4, and 5 (Mondays 9:00 to 12:30),  according to the calendar on the course site

4) The experimental protocols are described in the Lab Guide.

5) IMPORTANT! Only students who comply with the safety standards described in the Laboratory Safety section and who have sent the signed form "BASIC SAFETY RULES IN LABORATORIES" before February 26th may attend the lab sessions

6) Before each Laboratory Class the students should prepare the experiment, reading the corresponding protocol.
