Potential projects for presentations

Dear everybody,

we have advertised the possible pojects that any of you could work on your final presentation (30 minutes max) which will occur on an arranged date. The topics are the following:

1. The four laws of black hole mechanics. (taken)

2. Extreme-mass-ratio inspirals and LISA.

3. Black-hole spectroscopy: ringdown analysis with quasinormal modes.

4. Gravitational collapse and weak cosmic censorship.

5. A strong cosmic censorship primer: history, violations and potential resolutions.

6. Black holes in astrophysical environments: treatment of circular equatorial EMRIs (or axial QNMs) and current status.

7. Black hole superradiance: theory and application.

8. Exact derivation of Poschl-Teller QNMs, compare with Schwarzschild QNMs.

9. The TOV equation for different polytropic EOS and obtain M-R relations. (taken)

10. BH imaging, with an overview on the results from EHT and what constraints on the metric one can put.

11. No hair theorems in GR and beyond. (taken)

12. A survey of sources of GW background in different detectors (PTA, LISA, LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA) and connection to Cosmology. (taken)

Of course, you are all welcome to propose a topic of your choice that is directly connected with black hole physics and gravitational waves. We already have two other proposed topics from students which are the following:

13. Hawking radiation (taken)

14. Quantum aspects of black holes and black hole entropy (taken)
