Métodos de Avaliação

In this course, the evaluation of the students is performed through two tests (MAP45 and MAP5), two homework projects (TPC) or a final exam.

The MAP45 evaluations will take place on the Tuesday theoretical classes of weeks 4 and 7. The MAP5 evaluations will take place on the Wednesday theoretical classes of the remaining weeks of the academic period.  A student can also increase their final grade by doing two small projects called “Astro Q&A” (two original problems with solutions) as part of their homework activities (TPC).

The student's course grade corresponds to the highest value of the following formulas (maximum grade 17/20):

a. 0.8*MAP45+0.2*(0.5*MAP5[*]+0.5*TPC)

b. 0.8*MAP45+0.2*MAP5[*]

c. 1.0*MAP45

d. 1.0*Exam

[*] The final mark counts only with the four MAP5  (from a total of five) with the highest grades.

Students who obtain a grade above 17/20 will be invited to undergo an additional project (maximum two pages, complemented with a possible verbal examination), that will have a weight of 60% on their final score, enabling them to increase their final grade. The project cannot drop the student's grade below 17. If the student does not wish to submit the project, they will finish with a final grade of 17/20.

The tests (MAP45) evaluations will be done in the theoretical lectures (Tuesdays) on weeks 4 and 7 of the first period:

Week 4: MAP45, Tuesday, 19/10/2021 at 13h-14h, Assessment, Wednesday, 20/10/2021 at 10h-12h30m

Week 7: MAP45, Tuesday, 09/11/2021 at 13h-14h, Assessment, Wednesday, 10/10/2021 at 10h-12h30m

Exam: The exam date is available in this link [**].

The written tests and exams will be carried out without using the internet, mobile phones, or other similar electronic means. However, if necessary, we will provide the maths and physics formulas.
