Topic 01: Introduction to network science and overview of the courseSlides. (Sept. 27 2021) Summary: Introduction to complexity in a broad sense, where network science comes in, and how it emerges in all aspects of our life. Overview of the problems to be addressed during our course, together with their relevance in social, life and/or engineering sciences. Examples or real-world networks and dynamical processes occurring on these graphs. This welcome class also tried to provide an explanation of the rationale of the grading system we adopt in the course, detail how the groups should be assembled, among other practical matters.
