The suggested themes are the following:

- Multi-channel audio encoding: comparison of the available technologies 2 (Filipe Rodrigues + Rui Batista)
- Video-conference technologies 2 (Emanuel Silva + Paulo Paiva)
- 3D video: concepts, technologies and comparison of available platforms 2 (Francis Penha + Leonardo Feliciano)
- Microsoft Media Server (MMS) technology vs RTSP 2 (Frederico Gonçalves + Vitor Carvalho)
- Set-Top-Boxes SW Technologies: Microsoft Mediaroom vs NDS MediaHighway 2 (Rodrigo + Diego)
- Media Object Server Communications Protocol (MOS) 2 (Rodolfo Morgado + Daniel Ribeiro)
- Digital Rights Management (DRM), content ownership and content security technologies 2 (Bruno Sousa + Zoran Vitez)

Each of these themes will be assigned to a group composed either by 1 student or 2 students, according to the superscript note.
Theme Assignment
First Round:
Students willing to register for a very specific theme should send an email until April 26th, indicating the theme. In case more than one group registers for the same theme, arbitration will continue in the second round.
Second Round:
Starting from 09:00 on Abril 28th, students should send an e-mail with a list composed of 3 (three) themes, arranged in order of preference (any emails received before will be disregarded). Whenever more than one group requests the same theme, allocation will be made by order of arrival of the e-mails. The final result of this assignemnt will be posted on the course webpage by April 29th.
Shedule
- April 20th, 2011: Publication of the list of proposed themes;
- April 29th, 2011: Publication of the group assignements;
- May 20th, 2011: Delivery of the paper and of the presentation files;
- May 24th - May 31th: Presentation of the paper by the students.
Paper Format
The paper should not exceed 8 pages. Its contents should include a comprehensive discussion of the assigned topic with a reasonably depth. The IEEE Computer Society template (two columns) should be adopted.

Presentation
The presentation of the paper will take place in a theoretical class, according to the defined calendar, with a maximum of 20min. The presentation file should be simultaneously delivered with the paper, by using the PDF or the PPT file formats.
Delivery
The delivery of the paper and of the presentation should be made until 12:00 on May 20th via e-mail using the PDF (article) and PPT/PDF (presentation) file formats.
