{pt=A simbiose industrial (SI) é um modelo empresarial de Economia Circular definido pela colaboração entre duas ou mais empresas, que tem como foco a valorização de materiais, energia, água, conhecimento e infraestruturas. Do ponto de vista da gestão da cadeia de abastecimento, as SI’s criam uma rede de cadeia de abastecimento colaborativa entre organizações anteriormente não relacionadas e estabelecem novas parcerias fornecedor-comprador. Neste trabalho, é realizada a caracterização de um caso de estudo que explora as relações simbióticas entre a indústria de pasta e papel e a indústria cimenteira, com o objetivo de identificar barreiras e incentivos à criação de parcerias simbióticas e analisar de que forma a investigação operacional pode ser útil para ultrapassar algumas das barreiras. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com fornecedores, compradores, facilitadores, reguladores e académicos, de modo a identificar as diferentes perspetivas envolvidas. Estas entrevistas semiestruturadas foram úteis para identificar as motivações e os obstáculos à implementação de cadeias de abastecimento simbióticas. Neste estudo é também realizada uma revisão sistemática à investigação existente em teoria de jogos aplicada a cadeias de abastecimento simbióticas, de modo a examinar o estado atual da literatura e identificar possíveis caminhos de investigação futuros. Ao longo desta análise concluiu-se que os obstáculos mais mencionados, na literatura e nas entrevistas, à implementação destas relações simbióticas eram de origem financeira, seguidos de conflitos de interesse e falta de confiança entre potenciais parceiros. Por outro lado, as principais motivações apontadas pelas entrevistas foram de natureza económica e ambiental., en=Industrial symbiosis (IS) is a Circular Economy business model defined by collaboration between two or more businesses or organizations, focusing on the valorisation of materials, energy, water, knowledge and infrastructures. From the standpoint of supply chain management, IS creates a collaborative supply chain network between previously unconnected organizations and establishes new supplier-buyer partnerships. In the present work, descriptive research methods are applied for an in-depth characterization of a case study that explores symbiotic relationships between the pulp and paper industry and the cement industry at different development stages with the objective of identifying barriers and enablers and analyse how operational research can be useful in overcoming some of the barriers. Semi-structured interviews supported by literature and available technical and regulatory information are conducted with stakeholders such as suppliers, buyers, facilitators, regulators, and academics, to capture the different perspectives involved. These semi-structured interviews were useful in identifying the motivations and the barriers of implementing industrial symbiotic supply chains. This study also provides a systematic review and analysis of the game-theory-based research in symbiotic supply chains, to examine the current state of the literature and to identify possible future research paths. Throughout this analysis it was conclude that the most mentioned obstacles, in the literature and in the interviews, to the implementation of these symbiotic relations were from a financial origin, followed by conflict of interest and lack of trust between potential partners. In the other hand, the main motivations pointed out by the interviews were of an economic and environmental nature.}
