Objectivos

Provide the students with the knowledge of main types of transports technologies, and with the competencies to understanding the main problems related to design, construction and operation of the vehicles and their infrastructures.

Programa

a) Technologies covering all modes, vehicles and infrastructures: road; railway; maritime; air. b) Technologies in support of intermodality on cargo units, on vehicles, on infrastructure. Existing solutions, evolution trends. Most frequent models of investment underwriting c) Operational elements for transport service and infra-structure (lines, networks, stop and stations, linear and nodal infra-structures) d) Organization and optimization of productive processes and resources. Planning, programming and service level in transport operations. e) Configuration of urban systems, modal choice, assessment of aggregated performance. f) Unimodal vs. Intermodal Transport: main differences on the producers side, on the clients side and on society?s side. Situations of great potential gain in the application of intermodal solutions and main barriers to their success g) Contraints imposed to operation by safety and security elements. h) Performance monitoring, management control and service quality.
