Next Friday, March 18th, at 11h00, the seminar “Oil Industry – How well you know it?" will be held, presented by Mr. Manuel Pungo , from Total E&P Angola.

Venue: Room V1.08, Civil Engineering Building, IST - Alameda Campus


Manuel Augusto Jose Pungo graduated with honor in Mechanical Engineering at IST, in Lisbon – Portugal, and was awarded a merit scholarship from Technical University of Lisbon in 1999. He further achieved a Business Management Diploma from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen – United Kingdom. He has over 15 years of experience in the upstream Oil & Gas industry, within shallow water, deep and ultra deep offshore domains. Manuel Pungo has engineering, green and brown field developments and operation background, having worked in several countries such as Angola, South Korea, France, Nigeria, Indonesia, Argentina, Congo, Gabon, etc.

While working in Angola, he lectured at the university and taught different subjects including but not limited to Production Management, Structural Analysis and Applied Thermodynamics. He was also technical advisor and consultant for the Angolan water supply Company (EPAL)

Currently he is the Operations Technical Support Manager at TOTAL E&P Angola, providing support to 4 FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) units in several domains such as Maintenance, Production and Process, Subsea Operations, Inspection and plant Turnaround.

Friday, March 31th, at 16h00, the seminar “Outcrop Analogues for Carbonate Reservoirs: a Virtual Field Trip" will be held, presented by Mr. Paulo Bizarro , from Partex Oil&Gas

Venue: Room Q4.2, South Tower, IST - Alameda Campus


Paulo Bizarro has an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Imperial College, London (1996) and BSc in Geology from the University of Lisbon (1988).

Geoscience Coordinator of Partex Oil and Gas since 2013, with coordinating and technical representation roles in several Exploration & Production interests in its petroleum concessions in different areas of the world, namely the Middle East and Kazakhstan.

From 2002 to 2009 he was seconded by Partex  to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), working in field development planning, geomodelling, and reservoir characterization studies, for various fields in Oman.

From 1998 to 2002 he worked for Compagnie Generale de Geophysique (CGG), working in several reservoir characterization studies in Mexico, Bahrein, Venezuela, and Russia.

Joined Partex in 1988, and until 1998 he held several technical roles for Partex Oil and Gas on reservoir characterization, static modelling and field development in the Middle East, West Africa and Kazakhstan.

Author and co-author of several publications on reservoir characterization and integrated studies for oil field development projects, as well as speaker at several technical conferences.

Friday, March 4th, at 11h00, the seminar “Petroleum Exploration in Portugal – Facts and Perspectives" will be held, presented by Mr. Paulo Carmona , from ENMC

Paulo Jorge da Silva Carmona has been President of the Board of Directors of ENMC, E.P.E , which is the National Authority for Fuel Market, since July 2013. Before joining ENMC, he was Secretary-General of Portuguese Association of Biofuel Producers, in Portugal, since 2009 until 2013, and CEO of Biofuels Prio - Martifer Group, in Portugal and of Prio Biocombustibili - Martifer Group, in Bucharest (Romania), between 2006-2009.

Before that, he was Consultant of investment funds, WFP, Geneva (Switzerland), between 1996-1999, and Vice-President of Latam Commodity Trade Finance, Merrill Lynch, in Chicago and New York (United States), between 1995 -1996.

Between 1991 -1995, he was Director of NUTASA - CUF Rations, in Barreiro (Portugal) and CFO of UNIFAC, Lisbon since 1988 until1995;
He is also Visiting Professor (graduate degree in Investment and Financial Markets) at the Higher Institute of Bank Management, in Portugal since 1999 and he is also Director of Mission Growth Association, a Portuguese think-tank. 
Paulo Jorge da Silva Carmona has a degree in Business Administration and Management, from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and attended the Masters in Philosophy of Knowledge, Lisbon Economics from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
