The 3rd Annual Meeting of Petroleum Engineering took place on the 3rd of May 2016, in IST. In this event master students and PhD students presented their thesis works to an audience composed by of students, researchers and experts of around 60 people. The event had the presence and participation of several experts from national and international companies, namely: Galp, Partex Oil&Gas , TOTAL, Subsea7, Beicip-Franlab, ENI, ENMC, Geolog and PetroGuin.
Topics discussed included Multi-scale geostatistical history matching, Genetic programming for reservoir modeling and characterization, Simulations of chemical core flooding, Earth models for early exploration stages, Optimization of a Simultaneous Water alternating Gas injection Scheme, Numerical simulation of the wax deposition in pipelines and wells, Integration of uncertain well data for seismic reservoir characterization, Accounting for rock physics models in stochastic seismic inversion and Integration of seismic interpretation in to geostatistical acoustic impedance, all these subjects had special attention of the experts present leading to interactive presentations .

Seminar "Bayesian inversion methods and rock physics models for seismic reservoir characterization and monitoring”

Next Friday, May 13th, at 11h00, the seminar "Bayesian inversion methods and rock physics models for seismic reservoir characterization and monitoring”, will be held, presented by Prof. Dario Grana.
Venue: Room VA2, Civil Engineering Building, IST - Alameda
Dario Grana is currently assistant professor in Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. He received a MS in Mathematics at University of Pavia (Italy) in 2005, a MS in Applied Mathematics at University of Milano Bicocca (Italy) in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Geophysics at Stanford University, in 2013. He worked four years on rock physics and reservoir characterization at Eni Exploration and Production in Milan. His main research interests are rock physics, seismic reservoir characterization, geostatistics and inverse problems for reservoir modeling.

Next Thursday, May 12th, at 16h00, the seminar "Introduction to subsea pipeline design”, will be presented by Mr. Jeremy Auer. Venue: Room V1.03, Civil Engineering Building, IST - Alameda Campus.
Jeremy Auer is MSc in Engineering from Ecole Centrale Lyon (France). He has 9 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. He has joined Susbea 7 in 2011 in the Paris office.
Since October 2014, he is the leading pipeline and riser engineering activities in the Lisbon office.
